About Steven Gregory

This blog was started for one reason–to expose the realities that we all face, every day, while either striving to stay healthy or to improve our ourselves or our loved ones within the complex system that we call health care.

My brother for whom this blog was started has faced challenges since birth, first with a rare chromosomal condition that caused significant delay in development and minimal speech, and later in life with heart and kidney failure, a pituitary brain tumor, respiratory compromise, and seizures.  My family, and especially my mom have cared for him his entire life.

Our experience over the past 57 years is that the healthcare system has grown increasingly challenging, not better.  Healthcare workers are burnt out.  Paperwork and administrative burdens have taken over.  Privacy laws and regulations have made coordination of care nearly impossible.  Assistance with day to day needs are spotty.  What can we do?

As with any movement, we must expose the truths regarding the challenges that we face regarding health and illness support.  Our current reality does not mean that we have no where to go.  On the contrary, we need to be responsible for ourselves and stop accepting both our own excuses and the broken system that surrounds us.

This site should inform as well as offer a place to seek information about  a host of issues.  It is not a medical advice site and is not intended to replace those that offer these services.  It is a site for ideas and insights.  It is a place to illustrate the realities that we each experience every day.

Let’s change things!
